Health documents
Medical report attestation
Medical reports and health certificates follow a different first step to most documents, because the Ministry of Health certifies them before Wisma Putra will.
What applies to this document
Health certificates must be certified by the Ministry of Health before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will attest them. That is a requirement of the Ministry, and it is the step people most often miss on a medical document.
- 01
Issuing authority or notary public
The document is verified at source, or certified as a true copy by a notary public.
- 02
The relevant ministry
Education certificates go through the education authorities. Other documents go through the ministry that governs them.
- 03
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The consular division at Wisma Putra in Putrajaya legalises the document for use abroad.
- 04
The destination embassy
The embassy or consulate of the destination country adds the final stamp. Most sit in Kuala Lumpur, a few in Putrajaya.
Health documents go through the Ministry of Health first
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires health certificates to carry Ministry of Health certification before it will attest them. That is a different first step to every other document on this site, and it is the one people miss.
A report signed only by the clinic or the doctor does not meet the requirement, however official it looks.
Commonly needed for
- Employment medicals for overseas postings
- Insurance and claims abroad
- Treatment and referral overseas
- Residence applications requiring a health record
What we need to quote
Scans of the document and the destination country. We confirm which steps apply, what each costs and how long yours takes before anything is submitted.
Worth knowing
Employment medicals for overseas postings often have to be done at a panel clinic the destination recognises. Confirm that before paying for a medical that will not be accepted.
Questions
Do you need the original medical report?
Usually yes, and it must carry Ministry of Health certification before Wisma Putra will attest it.
My document is not in English. Is that a problem?
Not for Wisma Putra, which requires documents not in English to be translated into English. We handle translation into English, Malay, Arabic, Persian, Mandarin and Tamil.
